The Girl Scouts

Elke BucklandUncategorized

Each March many of us eagerly anticipate signs of Spring, not only for warmer weather and beautiful flowers but also for Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs…. You see, March is Girl Scout Cookie time and although the Girl Scouts may be synonymous with the tasty treat they embody so much more.

The Girl Scouts was founded in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Lowe and since then has encouraged millions of young girls to “be trailblazers” and courageously follow their dreams.  Their programs help cultivate leadership skills and positive community engagement that create lifelong relationships and good character. As referenced in the 1913 Girl Scout Handbook “The work of today is the history of tomorrow, and we are its makers”.  Please visit Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri to learn more about how you can get involved and/or support the Girl Scouts in our area.
